So it is my school prom this Friday and I have no idea what to do with my nails for it. I don't want to have plain, one-colour nails, cause I've always been known as 'the girl with the fancy nails' but at the same time I can't think of what would suit my dress and the occasion...
So I came up with five ideas. I have a definite favourite but I'll show you guys and if you have one you think is best, or any other ideas please let me know!
This is my dress
It is a Jonathan Saunders dress with a bright pink lining and black chiffon over the top, creating a dark wine colour (my favourite). My heels, bag and shrug are all black so I need something that will go with the whole outfit.
This is a shot of some of the options
First option
A bright pink bottom (nameless polish) with a black top (Primark, nameless) and separated by some silver striping tape.
Second option
A nude (Revlon, nameless mini) and purple (Nails Inc, Victoria) gradient with silver glitter (Essence, Blair)
Third option
Excuse the bubbles, I was getting impatient A purple (Avon, Deluxe) bottom with a black (Primark, nameless) top, separated by silver striping tape.
Fourth option
Revlon Facets Of Fuchsia (Scandalous).
Fifth (and final) option
Nails Inc Victoria with a black (Primark, nameless) tip.
Like I said, please let me know what you think and if you have any ideas let me know!

Off To The Carnival!
I had seen Bodycare being discussed on a number of British blogs as being very good for cheap nail polishes/nail art materials, so when I was in Livingston I decided to have a look. I came home with a bag crammed full of polishes, stripers and a little holo to try!
When I spotted this polish I was pretty excited. I love glitter, especially multi-coloured glitter and when I had seen this on other blogs it looked great! So I scooped a bottle up (despite having an almost identical multi-coloured glitter at home). I compared it to my similar glitter, Essence's Circus Confetti, and the colours in Essence's are much more pastel than this one, so it is acceptable to own both!
I used a Rimmel base, two coats of a nameless black polish from Primark, two coats of Carnival by Technic and Essence's matte top coat Soft Touch. The coverage of the glitter was fantastic, with plenty of glitter in one coat, I just wanted a little extra! The black, however, was super gloopy. I don't know if that was because I was painting my nails outside in the heat of the sun or if it's just happened anyway, but it isn't even an old polish. But it's Primark so I don't really care too much!
Messy cuticles alert!! The polish has red, green, blue, gold and silver coloured glitters with varying sizes.
While Carnival is a super pretty polish, I wasn't too happy with the unevenness of the black underneath. It just made the manicure look quite lumpy and messy, so I wasn't fully satisfied with the way it turned out... I guess I'll just have to try different colour combinations of bases until I find one that suits the glitter just right!

19. Chevrons
19 Add a chevron (those triangles) to your purple! Use scotch tape if you need help! http://www.nailnerd.com/chevron-nails/
I had never attempted chevrons before this and I though they looked really difficult but I came upon this tutorial which made it so much easier.
I found the tape method a little fiddle-y but once I got the hang of it I was okay. I definitely need some practise on cutting my strips to the right size, I wasn't very happy with the widths of my chevrons at all. But practise makes perfect I guess and it was my first try at this.
I added the chevrons over mani number 18 with a nameless black polish from Primark. Over all I wasn't too pleased with this mani but I will definitely try the taping method again and try to get it perfect because I really do love chevrons I've seen on other peoples nails...

3. Polka Dots
Before I started this challenge I ordered some dotting tools and stripers from Born Pretty Store and I really wanted to use them for some of the designs, especially this one, so I was waiting for them to get here before attempting them. That's why my posts have been really lacking recently. Sadly the tools still aren't here and I couldn't be bothered waiting any longer so here is the polka dot design without the dotting tools :(
3 Polka Dots (get creative, do multi colours, do it over the nude from before or change your base colour, go monochromatic) So many options!
I decided to do the polka dot mani with a cocktail stick, so brace yourself for some God-awful dots!!
I applied Barbara Daly base coat, two coats of Blue Mirror by W7. This is a gorgeous light blue foil polish and I love it on its own.

Here are the polka dots!! I was really impatient with the cocktail stick and ended up tapping it, pressing the side of it to my nail etc, just to get some polish off, so my dots are terrible!! I used a nameless black from Primark for the dots and then 2true top coat.
I loved Blue Mirror by itself and I think that the 'dots' totally ruined it, but hey! I had to do the challenge!

You're A Gold Mine
I picked up this polish when I was on holiday in Fuerteventura because it was so sparkly and pretty I just couldn't resist!
When I first bought it I put it over a red and it looked great but I never took any phots :(
This time I layered it over a very deep purple (nameless) and I was very disappointed with the results. It just didn't have any 'Wow' to it, it was soo boring!
Anyway, here it is...

Since then I have done a gradient with it (the Effie Trinket one from The Hunger Games) and I fell back in love with it :) Pictures of that will be coming soon!
In happier news, look what I made!!
I'm so proud of myself! I made it from foamboard and I used a glue gun and it only took about 40 minutes. There are tonnes of 'how to' videos on Youtube if you want to have a go :)

Star Foils
So I've kinda been avoiding the nail foil/wraps that are so popular just now as I saw it as a bit of a 'cheat' way of doing my nails, but my mum picked up a packet from Primark for £1 so I decided to give them a go.
They were actually okay to put on! The wraps folded a bit when putting them on which was annoying as I much prefer smooth nails, especially with something like this, and the cutting off the extra bits was really fiddly because I had to try and get the scissors right up tight to the side of my nail which was difficult!
I then put two coats of 2true top coat on to try and seal them, because my sister's ones came off as soon as they hit warm water :/ But with the top coat on they survived washing my hair and everything!
I have to say I'm pleased I tried them and if I saw another design I really liked I would definately try them again :)
